Rules of Golf Experience
USGA wanted to introduce a new and exciting way to learn the rules of golf. The USGA Rules of Golf Experience is a fully responsive, highly interactive, informative and flexible online education tool that allows users to learn and thoroughly understand the rules of golf. Users can engage with lessons structured around designated topics to test their knowledge. Users are awarded with badges and spendable tees that unlock topics, holes, and lessons as they complete each challenge. The goal is for the user to progress and advance though the rules of golf.

STRATEGY & UX
Working with a handful of Rule Experts and Officials between PGA Majors, we carefully conducted a curriculum that broke down hundreds of complex situations that make up the Rules of Golf. Using these lessons, I created various user flows that took the user through the content in both guided and fully accessible lessons paths that gave users full control of their experience, making each user's experience unique.

DESIGN
Content was the most important aspect of the design. To start, I attended multiple seminars for professional golfers taught by the same officials I would work with. These seminars mainly used powerpoint with mostly dated graphics and content that would not provide enough explanation or engaging material for users of all skill sets. With the use of photo shoots, custom graphics, video, and animation, I provided a new art direction that would enhance the overall experience and take advantage of the beautiful scenery, science, and mathematics involved with the game.

DESIGN
Guiding the users through the rules of golf in a game-like experience that combined the latest trends in e-learning and gamification allowed golfers with any knowledge and skill level to enjoy learning the rules of golf. To keep users engaged, I used recognizable golf imagery, such as scorecards, scoreboards and course designs to display progress and guide users through the content.

FUNCTIONAL & BUILD SPECS
Development with this project was unlike anything I have been involved with before and communication with developers was key to the success to reach each milestone along a very calculated agile UX approach. Atlassian’s Confluence provided the best way to create, organize, and discuss with different team members on any number of tasks and departments all at once. Being the UX/UI designer on this project, I was responsible for writing all front end build specs.
